Lumière de bébé was started by Michelle in
order to educate and train parents and caregivers in the benefit
and art of infant massage. Research has shown that touch is essential
in order for children to thrive and develop.
Infant Massage is beneficial both for the caregiver and child.
Anecdotal information and Research studies have shown the many positive
short term, and long term benefits, of nurturing touch and infant
massage, not only for babies, but for their caregivers too. Such
benefits include: becoming more “in sync” with baby
- giving parents the tools to understand the child’s unique
rhythms, awareness through loving touch and caring attention, improved
sleeping patterns, release of nurturing hormones and fun - special
time between caregiver and baby, providing nurturing interaction
as the baby grows!

Restorative with Healing Sounds
Restorative yoga is a powerful practice aimed at regulating the
nervous system. In today's society, we are in a constant state of
over-stimulation and as a result can feel like we are losing control
of our emotional and physical state. The Restorative practice utilizes
props to fully support the body in long-held postures. In this state
of full support with focus on the breath, the mind and body are
subtly reminded to return to their natural state of being. Thus
the body and mind begin to restore themselves.
This workshop combines a classical restorative practice with the
profound healing power of sound. This unique practice may integrate
singing bowls, shamanic drumming, chanting and specially composed
music. Experience a profound state of relaxation amidst blissful
music and sound.
The restorative yoga style is ideal for students of all abilities
and backgrounds.
Have you ever wanted to start a meditation practice, maintain its
consistency and reap the many physiological benefits? For many,
this is a nice idea, but the major hurdle to achieving this goal
is lack of time. We move through our lives with little to no time
dedicated to ourselves, and as a result we suffer from high levels
of stress, lack of sleep resulting in emotional and physical tensions.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to move through life with more energy
and a clearer mind?
This practical meditation series offers student realistic ways
to integrate easy meditation techniques into their daily lives.
Students attend one 60-minute class per month, over a four month
period. Time between classes allows students time to practice one
or more of the described meditation techniques. Journaling is strongly
recommended, but not required. Student experiences will be shared
and discussed at each monthly class to provide support and share
insights. The workshop begins with a discussion of the scientific
benefits of meditation. Students are provided with excerpts from
scientific journals and texts that use peer review and the scientific
method to support the benefits of the practice.
Dates: September 8th, October 6th, November 3rd, December 1st.
Time: Sundays from 2:30-3:30pm
Cost: $75.00 + GST
Introduction to Yoga
Deciding to attend your first yoga class can be exciting, but for
many people it is equally as intimidating. Many students enter their
yoga practice with preconceived notions, such as a necessity to
be overtly flexible, have amazing athletic stamina, have zero injuries
and (of course) the natural ability to place their foot behind their
head! Allow yourself the chance to dispel preconceived notions and
experience yoga through the joyful and exciting eyes of a beginner.
Learn methods to achieve the ultimate goal in a yoga practice and
experience how yoga is so much more than the physical body.
This four-week intensive workshop will introduce you to Classical
Hatha Yoga (yoga that pertains to the physical body), structured
with the intention of creating a comfortable progression into yoga
regardless of ability. Slow movement in and out of postures is emphasized
allowing for increased guidance and a deeper understanding of the
physical and energetic body. Breathing, meditation and mindful movement
will be explored. This registered course will leave beginners with
a traditional and strong foundation upon which they may scaffold
their yogic journey.
This workshop begins with an instructional lecture, followed by
a detailed yoga class offering a variety of variations for beginner
yogis.
Dates: Sundays, Sept 15, 22, 29 & Oct 6
Time: 3:30 – 5:00pm
Cost: $110.00 + GST (includes unlimited yoga classes through the
duration of the course)
Future sessions:
Dates: Sundays, Jan 12, 19, 26 & Feb 2
Time: 3:00 – 4:30pm
Cost: $110.00 + GST (includes unlimited yoga classes through the
duration of the course)
Yin Yoga and the Meridians
Balance your Yang with some Yin! Yin Yoga is a practice that focuses
on ligaments, joints, deep connective tissue where poses are held
safely for several minutes. This five-week series guides students
through a Yin Yoga flow, with each class focusing on an associated
pair of meridians (energy channels) in the body. Students have the
opportunity to tap into a deeper relationship between yin yoga poses
and the internal governing organs of the energy channels. Allow
the experience of a consistent yin yoga practice deepen your yang
asana practice. Specialized guided breathing exercises will complement
each yin flow.
